Women's Health Research Network

Projects & Programs List

The work of the WHRN includes four research clusters designed to stimulate and support work in a variety of areas. Through videoconferenced workshops and the use of other new technologies, researchers throughout British Columbia have the opportunity to share ideas and build new opportunities for collaboration. As the WHRN grows, we welcome feedback and suggestions for new directions from the women's health research community. Please contact the WHRN's Provincial Coordinator for more information.

Since 2005, the WHRN has been developing, among others, the following specific provincial initiatives:

  1. Untangling Sex and Gender — Working to further our understanding of the ways in which sex differences and gender influences are operationalised in current health research
  2. Research Methodologies — Bringing researchers and other key stakeholders working in the area of research methodologies together to investigate and inventory past and ongoing work at international, national, and provincial levels
  3. Women's Health Determinants — Exploring past and ongoing research into the determinants of women's health from international, national, and provincial perspectives
  4. Women's Health Surveillance — Launched in June 2007, this online bilingual women’s health data directory will improve access to data and resources pertinent to women’s health issues and gender and health issues. The directory is designed for use by researchers associated with the Women’s Health Research Network, other MSFHR networks, policy makers, program/service planners, and students.
