Explanatory Frameworks for Health Disparities

This workshop will take place at SFU's Harbour Centre Campus (515 W. Hastings Street) from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Key participants will include: Jo Phelan - Associate Professor of Sociomedical Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University; Bruce G. Link - Professor of Epidemiology and Sociomedical Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health Columbia University and Research Scientist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute; and Lynn Weber - Professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies, University of South Carolina.
Trans Inclusion Workshop
March 18, 2010 - Kamloops, BC & WebEx
The purpose of this workshop is to address the importance of social inclusiveness for the health of transgender people. Through the sharing of stories, ideas, and information that links health and well-being to issues of social inclusiveness, we will explore ways that an organization, such as the Women’s Health Research Network, can become more welcoming of transgender people by raising awareness and providing access to trans-related resources. Additional details will be posted soon.
The WHRN is proud to offer four primers focused on key areas and innovative approaches in girls' and women's health and gender and health research. These documents have circulated around the globe, and have been downloaded over 2000 times to date!
