Women's Health Research Network

Governance

The Women's Health Research Network operates under the direction of a group of Co-Leaders, within a cooperative, collaborative leadership framework.

An Oversight Committee representing a variety of institutions, regions, and perspectives has been developed to assist in planning and accountability for the WHRN.

The Oversight Committee elected Dr. Colleen Varcoe and Dr. Joan Bottorff to share responsibility of chairing the committee's efforts.

Members of the WHRN's Oversight Committee for 2009-2010 are:

  • Ami Bitschy - Special Projects Leader - Research Capacity Building, Vancouver Island Health Authority
  • Valorie Crooks – Simon Fraser University, Department of Geography
  • Natalie Clark – Thompson Rivers University, School of Social Work and Human Service
  • Lydia Drasic - Provincial Primary Health Care & Population Health Strategic Planning, PHSA
  • Karen Kobayashi – University of Victoria, Department of Sociology
  • Kate Shannon - University of British Columbia / BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS
  • Colleen Varcoe – University of British Columbia, School of Nursing

The WHRN staff and Co-Leaders welcome new and returning Oversight Committee members and look forward to working with them as the network moves forward. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to all of the past and present Oversight Committee members for their interest in promoting girls' and women's health and gender and health research in BC and beyond.
